[unpaid/sample] Honestly, if all lipsticks were as beautiful as this I could live out my days just taking pictures of them. This is a beauty debut from Belgian fashion brand Dries Van Noten – four styles of graphic cases, each with contrasting patterns taken from previous season fabric.
I mean, it really is a thing of beauty – there’s something both Venetian and Delft about this particular pairing and it feels, as a whole, that it belongs in a jewellery box rather than a make-up bag. It’s HERE. I see there are new fragrance releases with the bottles having a similar decorative theme (small sampler sets are £28 HERE and from my experience with the larger sample set I would highly recommend – these are stunning fragrances).
The range is exclusive to Selfridges and the way these lipsticks are presented is a bit muddly. The Mattes include a beautiful orange called Midsummer Coral HERE), plenty of Satin shades including the beautiful Revised Pink HERE, in Sheer, which mine is, there are five shades, including mine which is Graphic Ochre HERE and there are a few of the clear balms left HERE. You’ll need to click onto the shown colour and the others appear either above or below in your screen – I had to fiddle about for a while to see what was in stock. In terms of texture, I only have the sheer formula to talk about and it’s really very comfortable – a glidey, generously pigmented (for a sheer) and lip softening recipe. The last for such a sheer formula is good – I can’t complain, although you do always have to re-apply oilier formulas more often than mattes.
Luckily, I got a ray of sunshine so you can see the juiciness of it. So, now to the tricky bit – cases are £30 each and refills (sold separately) are £32 bringing the grand sum to £62. If I was feeling very kind to myself I would buy this because it’s so individual and not like anything I’ve seen before but it would be a considered purchase. It feels special because it is 🙂
