Join us as we recognise Global Women’s Month, and permit us share some of the amazing woman minds that have contributed their insight and creativeness to NAJO’s inventive journey. NAJO Founder Jo Tory, clarifies her inspiration for jewellery style and design and her favorite piece is from the new Aqua Assortment.

NAJO How did your adore affair with jewelry get started and what drew you to turn into a jewellery designer?

I appear from a artistic household. My mom always had some type of art or craft on the go, such as earning silver jewellery, and I performed with the elements that surrounded me. So the love of design was with me from an early age. It was when I lived in Mexico and professional the exceptional craftsmanship there that I understood this was my route and motivated me to start off Najo. That craftsmanship directed the Najo brand name ethos. When I returned to dwell in Australia I desired to elevate the perception of silver jewellery with perfectly-built pieces of up to date design. At that time there was absolutely nothing like that in the market place

NAJO When generating a new selection, what is your creative procedure and where by do you uncover your most important supply of inspiration?

I am regularly investigating patterns and features of jewellery to explain what might be in my brain. Shapes, finishes, stones and the complex aspects of a piece will immediate how it turns out. I notably really like on the lookout at historical jewelry from the Greek, Roman or Byzantine era. Designs and figurative details also participate in a section, as in our Totem Collection. I also like creating and increasing on styles that are previously in the Najo collection as it maintains that consistency.

NAJO The new Aqua Collection has just introduced. What can we seem forward to looking at in the new selection?

I love all the fluid shapes in Aqua. The Najo selection in typical has usually had themes of water styles functioning by it with raindrops, waves and ripples, so it was particularly beautiful to showcase this with Aqua. There is a charming series of earrings with jelly-like stone drops in watery, translucent colors.

NAJO Much of your design and style is inspired by the purely natural globe, with this year currently being motivated by the move and colour of the drinking water. What is it about mother nature that fascinates you as a jewellery designer?

Mother nature is great so there is so significantly to encourage! I significantly enjoy natural designs, the tender curves and twists and asymmetry in the organic globe. Those fluid designs uncovered in h2o are so soft, female and luscious, they actually lend by themselves to jewelry style and design.

NAJO Explain to me about the evolution and array of your models of NAJO’s jewellery?

The Danish jewellery designers have always motivated my perform. That is, strong, perfectly-crafted silver styles with clear, present-day lines, oxidized patterning and trims – all of these things are embraced in the NAJO collections, and our aesthetic has remained consistent. High-quality is paramount and we continually try to keep that standard.

NAJO What sets NAJO aside from other Jewellery brand names?

There is a basic simplicity to Najo styles that make them pretty timeless. They are all imbued with the similar aesthetic, which makes them recognizable.

Jo’s Jewellery Pick’s

The Cosmic Peridot ring has all the Najo elements: it is a bold layout (12mm extensive), a attractive organic and natural form, substantial polish silver with a seamless flush set faceted stone. It is a winner!”

“The Mercury Chain Necklace has been on a black suede cord for several decades in our assortment. It is these types of a wonderful form that we resolved to dangle it on a prolonged 80cm sterling silver snake chain to give it an additional dimension. The silver chain gives it a cascading effect that culminates in this magnificent daring teardrop that conjures up the movement of h2o, it is a vital style and design of the Aqua Collection.”

“Just one of my favourite shapes that we use very a whole lot in Najo designs is the teardrop. This bracelet is the lesser variation of our traditional Pool of Tears bracelet. Being that a lot finer it is so fragile and female, gentle and effortless to have on. It is delicate, yet the styles of the drops and the substantial polish make it an beautiful and graceful statement.” Pair with the Pool of Tears Ring.

“I just love the Manner Yellow Huggie! I love it in the two silver and in gold plate. It definitely is a timeless style and is of absolute simplicity. It is classy, trendy and can be worn on any celebration. The huggie models are fantastic as they are super relaxed to wear and are the exact same both of those front and back again, so they seem really neat and complete.”
